imc² Creates Sound Twitter Approach For TAG Records

DALLAS – July 01, 2009 –TAG Records created the username @TAGRecords on Twitter as a way to cut through the clutter and hold one-to-one and one-to-many conversations directly with on-the-go, young, urban, hip-hop consumers. Twitter was chosen as the tool of choice because TAGRecords could easily integrate it with existing Web properties (brand website and blog), and it allows consumers to choose how they receive and interact with the content (mobile, Web, instant messaging and email).
 
Via Twitter, people worldwide can follow the sources most relevant to them and access information as it happens-from breaking world news to updates from friends. People are eager to connect and Twitter makes that simple by asking one question, "What are you doing right now?" Answers must be under 140 characters in length and can be sent via mobile texting, instant message or the Web.
 
Using Twitter, TAG Body Spray and imc² have supported large traditional campaigns by building buzz and pushing new content to the brand's most valued advocates and followers. If consumers have questions, TAG can immediately respond to them in real-time. In addition, Twitter allows the brand to spotlight the best of the best and provide a platform for aspiring and emerging artists to be seen and heard by the hip-hop community.
 
Most interesting and innovative is the ability for the brand to follow the trends and actions of its consumers within the hip-hop community. Twitter is a two-way street and while TAG is showcasing its efforts, so are the artists, producers, designers and DJ's it follows.
 
As consumers "tweet" about their latest happenings, followers are invited to take a look and offer feedback, which ties directly back to the brand's mission, "to give emerging hip-hop artists an opportunity to show their talents and make history."
 
Excitingly, a number of third-party developers/Twitter enthusiasts such as Twitterfeed.com monitor TAGRecords blog's RSS feed for new entries and automatically tweet a summary and link to push content to consumers.
 
Also on the agenda is using the integration of Twitter and the TAG Records blog as a vehicle for a more effective and efficient alternative to a traditional, email based, eCRM program when measured against:
  • ROI
  • Development time/time to market
  • More frequent and relevant updates
  • Greater ability to use real-time learnings to respond to ever changing market conditions and opportunities
The efforts to date have been highly promising. Since its inception in early November 2008, @TAGRecords has grown to over 3,200 followers. A core focus for @TAGRecords has been responding to all inquiries and helping consumers promote themselves via its platform. It also provides instructional and motivational help for its aspiring artists by demonstrating how social media can be used to achieve their professional goals. As one post says, "We'll take a look & keep you in mind. Be sure to keep building that following online & be visible to the industry. Make History."
