A Window on Engagement

This application mashes up Twitter feeds and Google maps to place each post or "tweet" within a geographic context. It's a window into the what and where of how people are communicating today—one small part of a much bigger engagement picture—and it's kind of addicting.

Feel free to type in what you care about—your brand, your passion or anything else that comes to mind—and see where the conversation leads. You'll likely notice that the default terms allow you to see how even simple words (such as engagement) have almost as many meanings as the number of people using them.

If you're easily offended, you may want to enter relatively tame subjects in the search box, but there's still no guarantee what you'll find because control belongs to the people and they can talk about anything they choose.

If you're so inclined, you can click through the individual tweets ("View") which takes you to the person's Twitter homepage, where you can log in and follow their feed. You can also click through any links in the dialog balloons to explore the subject in greater depth.

While the code and work are all ours, this concept was inspired by David Troy and his work with www.twittervision.com. We would like to thank Mr. Troy, along with Twitter and Google, for making this experience possible.
